We are excited to announce that following last year’s success, VR Summit is back again. This event brings together academic and industrial specialists from the EU, USA, UK, and Japan, providing a multidisciplinary overview of cutting-edge developments in extended reality (XR).
The Summit consists of two parts: the main conference and the subsequent hackathon. The conference will tackle hot topics ranging from the use of extended reality for neurorehabilitation and the significance of collaborative spaces to using artificial intelligence to enhance human experiences within shared and social virtual environments. We gathered top-rated researchers and professionals in the field to promote an elite-level discussion on the matters.
The hackathon is designed to empower motivated and diverse teams to develop innovative applications that utilize XR and AI to enhance human well-being. Last year’s winning team created a solution that allowed paralyzed patients to navigate virtual and real spaces using their eye and face movements. This year’s challenge will be different but will still focus on improving human well-being through the use of virtual reality.
As we focus on connecting the fields of research, society and industry, we are also offering free booths for VR startups at the VR Summit 2024. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your innovative solutions, network with industry leaders, and gain valuable insights from the global VR community.

The event will again be jointly organized by the Research Department of Neuroscience, MedEcon Ruhr and the HealthCampus Bochum.
The aim of the event is to bring together various stakeholders on these topics. In addition to presentations that will provide insights into the various areas: Business – Research – Application, there is plenty of room planned for discussions and networking with all those involved.

Our first physical event in 2023, the Health+ Investor Demo Day, successfully concluded on May 11. Around 100 participants from different incubators and accelerators across North Rhine-Westphalia, including some of our start-ups, joined us at the O-Werk. Six start-ups that excelled in the first round of pre-selection pitched on the day, with the top three winning a money prize and access to start-up events. Check out the wrap-up from the event below.
